february meeting [bringing our husbands good]

The notes for this past month's Wives' Discipleship meeting is now available online! (Click here.)

If you were unable to make it, we encourage you to take some time and go through the material and reflect on your own life and marriage.  For those of you who were able to make it, here are some of the verses we discussed, so you can be reminded:

We are image bearers.
Genesis 9:6
 6 “Whoever sheds human blood,
   by humans shall their blood be shed;
   for in the image of God
   has God made mankind.

We are constantly being transformed.
Colossians 3:9-15
9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

We are to bring our husbands good.
Proverbs 31:12
12 She brings him good, not harm,
   all the days of her life.

We are to be the helpmate God created us to be.
Genesis 2:18-24
 18 The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

 19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

 But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

 23 The man said,
   “This is now bone of my bones
   and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
   for she was taken out of man.”

 24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

Continue to think about things that are keeping you from being the helper God has intended you to be or things that may be getting in the way of bringing your husband good on a daily basis.  Like we talked about in group, ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify what's behind those issues and what specific things need to be transformed.

We love you all!
